Recently, the 2026 POMS International Conference Sweden was held at the Stockholm School of Economics in Sweden. Themed “Transformation in Times of Geopolitical Tensions, Sustainability Challenges, and Digitalization”, the conference focused on cutting-edge topics in production and operations management amid geopolitical tensions, sustainability challenges, and digital transformation. Covering multiple academic tracks—including healthcare operations management, service operations management, data science and analytics, sustainable operations management, and supply chain management—it attracted scholars and experts from around the world. Zhang Mengze, a PhD candidate from the Digital Intelligent Health Management Research Team of the School of Management, Shandong University, attended the conference upon paper acceptance. She delivered a paper presentation in the sub track “Healthcare: Workforce Management and Clinical Operations” under Healthcare Operations Management.
Zhang Mengze presented a paper titled “Understanding Multidimensional Health Behavior Choices among Nurses: Using Latent Variable Joint Analysis Framework”. This study focuses on the multidimensional health behavior choices of nurses in high-pressure medical work environments. Based on a latent variable joint analysis framework, it systematically examines the interrelationships and influencing factors among a series of behaviors—including physical activity, sedentary behavior, and risk-related behaviors. The research aims to move beyond traditional single-behavior perspectives by conceptualizing nurses’ health behaviors as an interconnected system of mutually influencing decisions, thereby offering new methodological support and managerial insights for identifying key intervention points in healthcare professionals’ health management.
For years, the Digital and Intelligent Health Management Research Team has consistently focused on cutting-edge issues within the healthcare system, including organizational operations, occupational health of medical staff, and digital health management. Emphasizing international scientific training for graduate students, the team actively encourages participation in high-level international academic conferences abroad and fosters dialogue platforms between young scholars from China and overseas. This recent attendance at an international conference in Sweden represents a significant step in promoting graduate student engagement in high-caliber global academic exchanges and enhancing their innovative research capabilities. Going forward, the team will continue leveraging advanced research platforms and international academic resources, encouraging students to actively participate in overseas academic conferences and international collaborations, and consistently producing high-quality research with both theoretical value and practical significance.
