Program Mission
Based on Shandong University's motto“Nurture talents for the world and Seek the prosperity for the nation", the International Master of Project Management（IMPM）program responds to the state“Belt and Road Initiative" and“ Going Global” strategy. The program focuses on promoting the cultural and educational exchange between China and other developing countries along the Belt and Road, cultivating local professional talents of project management for International Enterprises in developing countries, as well as providing higher education and development opportunities to the young people by combining internationalized and standardized Project Management education system and Chinese traditional culture.
International Accreditation
In 2010, Shandong University received the accreditation from International Project Management Association (IPMA)and became one of the partner universities of International Project Manager Professional (IPMP). In 2013, the BSc Project Management and MSc Project Management of School of Management are accredited by the Global Accreditation Center (GAC) for Project Management Education Programs, which is initiated by Project Management Institute (PMI).The accreditation will benefit the learners in their study and future development. Enrolled Students
Since 2015, the program has recruited graduate students from the destination countries of China's overseas projects. Now there are students from 37 countries including the United States, Pakistan, Russia, Tanzania, Ghana, etc. The program has become the largest-scale international master's degree program in project management in China.
Program Features
1. Standardized Curriculum System
As a third-party authority for accreditating the curriculum plan of the project management degree on a global scale, PMI-GAC was founded in 2001 and aimed to promote the development and the curriculum building of excellent and professional teaching programs on project management. It guarantees the quality of the degree education on project management, assisting universities to improve the curriculum plan on project management of the degree education and the career development on project management. Besides, PMI-GAC has a rigorous and objective assessment system and process for project management programs. In a word, the project management education established by the School of Management at Shandong University has corresponded with the advanced international education level.
2. Internationalized and Qualified Faculty
The project management faculty comprises scholars and professors who have studied in the United States, UK, Japan, Switzerland, and other countries. Moreover, the School of Management has international teacher resources organized by well-known universities professors from the UK, Italy, Australia, Germany, Korea, South Africa, etc, such as Professor Rodney Turner, the former president of the International Project Management Association and the Chief Editor of International Journal of Project Management.
3. University-Enterprise Collaboration
School of Management, Shandong University has abundant domestic and overseas schoolfellow enterprises and has formed a large-scale cooperation network. A large number of graduates are engaged as senior executives in these enterprises whose business has been expanded in our country and some developing countries in the area of Africa, the Middle East, Southeast Asia, etc. These enterprises can provide international students majoring in project management with internships, factory visits, and employment opportunities. The cooperative enterprises providing overseas students with internship bases and scholarship not only include some China central and state-owned enterprises like China State Construction Engineering Corporation, China Railway Construction Corporation Limited, China Railway Construction Engineering Group, Power Construction Corporation of China, Inspur, Shandong Gold Group Co, Ltd., Shandong Hi-speed Group Co, Ltd., but also consist of some famous foreign-invested enterprises and private enterprises such as Kerui Group Corporation and CP Group.
4. Cross-culture and Cross-discipline Integration
The program has made full use of the historical and cultural status of Shandong Province and the disciplinary advantage of literature and history in Shandong University to set training objectives and curriculums. Combined traditional Chinese learning and western modern management techniques via some courses such as cross-cultural communication form a unique training mode at the international level. The School has carried out abundant activities and language teaching with characteristics of Chinese traditional culture on campus, which provides various favorable conditions for students to become international top-level talents.
5. Scholarships
The Ministry of Education, the Ministry of Commerce, and enterprises provide scholarships programs for students to apply for to support their further studies.
