Vice-Chancellor of the University of Waikato Visited School of Management

On the afternoon of March 13, a delegation from the University of Waikato, led by Executive Vice-Chancellor Alister Jones, visited the School of Management at Shandong University. Dean Ding Ronggui and Ren Rong, Executive Director of the MBA/EMBA Education Center, attended the meeting. Wang Jing, Director of the Center for International Cooperation and Accreditation, presided over the meeting.

Ding extended a warm welcome to the delegation and provided a comprehensive overview of the school’s development from three key perspectives: interdisciplinary integration, industry-academia collaboration, and global outreach. He emphasized that in the context of global educational transformation, establishing cross-cultural collaborative innovation mechanisms has become an essential strategy for management education. He expressed his hope that by leveraging complementary strengths, the two institutions could develop a project-based partnership to create an internationally recognized model for educational collaboration.

Alister Jones introduced the educational orientation of the University of Waikato, and highlighted the strengths of its business education under the triple accreditation framework. He noted that as New Zealand’s most dynamic research university, the University of Waikato regards China as a key strategic partner. Given the strong alignment between the two institutions in talent development and research innovation, he looked forward to establishing a cross-regional international cooperation network through strategic collaboration.

During the discussion session, both sides engaged in in-depth exchanges on joint programs, dual-degree initiatives, MBA international study tours, DBA programs, and research collaborations, laying a solid foundation for further cooperation.

The University of Waikato is one of New Zealand’s eight national universities, with its School of Management holding AACSB, EQUIS, and AMBA accreditations. The university is particularly renowned for its interdisciplinary strengths in e-commerce, tourism management, and environmental economics, making it a key hub for talent development and research innovation in the Asia-Pacific region.
