Doctoral Student Yang Laifeng Published Research on Corporate Governance

Recently, Yang Laifeng, a doctoral student from the School of Management at Shandong University, published the latest research findings on corporate governance titled“Tax Governance and Corporate Labor Investment Efficiency: A Quasi-Natural Experiment from China”online in Corporate Governance: An International Review (SSCI, Q1, IF/2023: 4.6). The research was conducted under the guidance of Professor Lu Junwei and in collaboration with Associate Professor Lai Shaojie and Lecturer Wang Qing from the School of Finance at Jiangxi University of Finance and Economics. Yang is the first author, Lu is the second author, and Wang is the corresponding author. Shandong University is the first author affiliation.

Under Lu’s guidance, Yang has maintained a strong focus on cutting-edge research in corporate finance and capital markets accounting. Yang has published nearly ten papers in authoritative journals such as Journal of Corporate Finance (SSCI, Q1), Corporate Governance: An International Review (SSCI, Q1), Finance Research Letters (SSCI, Q1), Modern Economic Science, along with Journal of Audit and Economics.

The research mainly explored the impact of tax governance on corporate labor investment efficiency(LIE). Applying a staggered difference-in-differences approach to Chinese A-share listed companies spanning from 2010 to 2017, the research revealed a significant improvement in LIE due to digitalized tax governance. The path analysis demonstrated that the relationship between tax governance and LIE is mediated by enhancements in corporate governance and information quality. Notably, improved information quality exerts a more substantial influence than corporate governance. The research uncovered a causal relationship between digitalized tax governance and corporate LIE. Besides, it offered new insights into the broader effects of tax governance, specifically how businesses adjust their employment decisions when tax administration becomes more digitalized. The research was supported by the General Program of the National Natural Science Foundation of China (Grant No. 72072102).

Corporate Governance: An International Review (CGIR, SSCI, Q1)), published by Wiley, is a leading journal in corporate governance with a 2023 impact factor of 4.6 and a five-year impact factor of 6.3. It is listed in the Social Sciences Citation Index (SSCI) and ranks in the Journal Citation Reports (JCR) Q1 category.
