Recently, Professor Chen Zhijun's team has published a series of research findings in well-known domestic management journals. Their research findings “How Does Knowledge Coupling Reconstruct the Organization Boundary at Digital Transformation: Based on Cognitive Logic of Entrepreneurial Alertness” and “Breaking the Technological Blockade: Entrepreneurship of Large Enterprises under the Double Dilemma of Counter Opportunity and Resource Scarcity——Reduction Based on Resource Bricolage and Orchestration” were published in Nankai Business Review (online). The “Research on the Digital Transformation of Small and Medium-sized Enterprises under the Matching of Resources and Capabilities” was published in Studies in Science of Science. “Development and Evolution of Researches on Business Groups in China” was published in Management Review.
The paper “How Does Knowledge Coupling Reconstruct the Organization Boundary at Digital Transformation: Based on Cognitive Logic of Entrepreneurial Alertness” adopts an inductive single case study approach. Through in-depth research at multiple levels of a manufacturing enterprise, it explored the mechanisms by which enterprises restructure organizational boundaries through knowledge coupling during digital transformation. The research found that, under digital transformation, manufacturing enterprises use three knowledge coupling mechanisms, which are knowledge recombination, knowledge integration, and knowledge decoupling to restructure organizational boundaries, with entrepreneurial alertness serving as the underlying cognitive logic for boundary reconstruction. Associate Researcher Wang Lin from Shandong University is the first author, and Professor Chen Zhijun is the corresponding author. Other contributors include Cui Ziyu, a master's student at Shandong University. Shandong University is both the first author affiliation and corresponding author affiliation. The research was officially published in the first issue of Nankai Business Review in 2024. Nankai Business Review is an A-level journal supported by the National Natural Science Foundation of China, with a composite impact factor of 10.286 in 2023.
The research“Breaking the Technological Blockade: Entrepreneurship of Large Enterprises under the Double Dilemma of Counter Opportunity and Resource Scarcity——Reduction Based on Resource Bricolage and Orchestration” focused on Hisense Group's corporate entrepreneurship in the chip industry, exploring the motivation, path and models of technological breakthrough for large enterprises to deal with the trouble and resource scarcity. The research showed the internal mechanism, which includes co-existence of means and goal orientation, and interaction and staged evolution, for large enterprises to break through the “bottleneck” through corporate entrepreneurship. Moreover, the research found that the dynamic resolution of dilemma follows an evolutionary mechanism of “available resources-resource restructuring-resource structuring-resource bundling-resource utilization and transformation.”, and the entrepreneurship of large enterprises driven by key technologies presents a dynamic evolutionary process of catching up, surpassing, and market-oriented stages. Niu Lu, a doctoral student from Shandong University, is the first author. Associate Professor Liu Zhen from Shandong University is the corresponding author. Other co-authors include Professor Chen Zhijun from Shandong University and Professor Xu Peng from Shandong University of Finance and Economics. Shandong University is both the first author affiliation and corresponding author affiliation. The research was published online in Nankai Business Review.
The “Research on the Digital Transformation of Small and Medium-sized Enterprises under the Matching of Resources and Capabilities” explored what kind of digital transformation mode SMEs will build under different factor endowment combinations from the perspective of resource-capability matching. Based on a questionnaire survey of 128 SMEs and an analysis with the help of fsQCA method, the research showed that: (1) there is a “multiple concurrent” effect between enterprise resources and dynamic capabilities, and the transformation and development of seven digital models can be realized through different combination paths; (2) The seven models are further clustered to propose three digital transformation models, namely resource-driven, capability-pull and parallel, which are applicable to different enterprise characteristics. Niu Lu, a doctoral student from Shandong University, is the first author. Professor Chen Zhijun is the corresponding author. Other contributors include Associate Professor Liu Zhen from Shandong University. Shandong University is both the first author affiliation and corresponding author affiliation. The research was officially published in the fourth issue of Studies in Science of Science in 2024. Studies in Science of Science is an A-level journal supported by the National Natural Science Foundation of China, with a composite impact factor of 6.513 in 2023.
The research “Development and Evolution of Researches on Business Groups in China” revealed the hot spots and evolution process of researches on business groups through literature review and theoretical analysis, taking the research papers on business groups in the Chinese context published at home and abroad from 1985 to 2022 as the research samples, and applying bibliometric analysis for statistical analysis. Based on these findings, the research adopted the strategy map and coding method to predict the research trend, and finally proposes four directions for the future research: internal market, business group governance, innovation and international development. Sun Wei, a doctoral student from Shandong University, is the first author. Professor Chen Zhijun is the corresponding author. Other contributors include Associate Professor Zheng Li from Qingdao University and doctoral student Liu Xilu from Shandong University. Shandong University is both the first author affiliation and corresponding author affiliation. The research was officially published in the fourth issue of Management Review in 2024. Management Review is an A-level journal supported by the National Natural Science Foundation of China, with a composite impact factor of 6.197 in 2023.
The research findings were supported by the General Program of the National Natural Science Foundation of China, titled "The Evolution Mechanism of Group Subsidiary Competition and Cooperation Relationships and Its Impact on Technological Innovation—Based on the Ecosystem Perspective" (Grant No.: 72272088).
