School of Management Won First Prize in Second National College Students Tourism Management Virtual Simulation Competition

On May 19th, the final of the Second National College Students Tourism Management Virtual Simulation Competition was held in Guangzhou. The student team of the School of Management, Shandong University, won the first prize.



The team was formed by undergraduates from the Department of Culture and Tourism Ma Jingwen and Wang Sirui, class of 2021, and undergraduate Hu Yuechen, class of 2022, as well as the undergraduate from the Department of Accounting, Zhang Yibo, class of 2021. Led by instructor He Zeya and lead teacher Dai Jingyi, the team conducted field investigations in Qianfeng Canal Town to get a picture of local resources and the development requirements. Building upon the concept of "Guangzhou, the flower city", the team developed a program, Multifunctional Education and Wellness Experience Complex, for the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area (GBA). The program incorporated core elements like “Tanka culture”, “nature education”, and “wellness”, and was also characterized by “Canal Town healing” and “immersive experience”. The team members won the national first prize in the competition owing to their solid professional knowledge, keen market insights, and excellent cooperation capacity. The professional skills and innovation and practice abilities of students from Shandong University were seen in the team’s efforts to strengthen the cultural tourism industries, drive the development of the rural revitalization market, enhance the standards of experimental teaching, and elevate the reputation of cultural tourism brands.


The competition was co-hosted by the Tourism Education Branch, China Tourism Association, the College of Tourism and Service Management of Nankai University, Guangzhou Nansha District Committee of the Communist Youth League of China, and Guangzhou Nansha Asset Management Group Co., LTD. A total of 224 teams nationwide advanced to the final, with 1 national champion, 8 grand prizes, 16 first prizes, and 80 second prizes awarded.
