On the morning of May 20th, Professor Lv Yuan from the School of Business Administration of South China University of Technology was invited to visit the School of Management of Shandong University to give an academic lecture. Professor Wu Changqi, Dean of the School, Researcher Peng Changgui from the Institute of Economic Research of Shandong University, and Assistant Professor Xiao Shufeng from the School participated in the lecture. The lecture was hosted by Professor Xu Yuehua.
Professor Lv Yuan shared his views on the topic of “From Tools to Agents: The Impact of Artificial Intelligence on Organizational Management from the Perspective of Technological Phenomenology”, introduced in detail what philosophy is, the two major problems and three major characteristics of philosophy, and then put forward the knowledge spectrum of “Philosophy, Philosophy of Technology, Philosophy of Artificial Intelligence, and Philosophy of Management”. He explained the issues of technology, phenomenology of technology, and philosophy of artificial intelligence in the field of philosophy, and finally explored the issues of artificial intelligence and management, and compared the difference between the management subject and the artificial intelligence (Agent). After the presentation, Professor Lv Yuan and the participating teachers and students had an in-depth exchange on the application of theories and how to carry out case studies.
Lv Yuan is a Visiting Professor at the South China University of Technology. He holds a Bachelor of Engineering degree from Beijing University of Technology (1982), an MBA from CEIBS (1987), and a PhD in Management from Aston University (1991). He is a Research Assistant at the School of Management, Lancaster University (Postdoctoral Fellowship, 1991), a Rothmans Research Fellow at Cambridge Judge Business School (1993), a Visiting Professor, an Associate Professor and a Professor of Management at the Department of Management of The Chinese University of Hong Kong (1996-2013), Dean and Distinguished Professor of the School of Business, Shantou University (2013-2017/2018), and Chair Professor and Visiting Professor of the School of Business Administration, South China University of Technology (2019-). Professor Lv's current research areas focus on topics such as leadership succession in family businesses and the impact of artificial intelligence on organizational management.
