In order to further promote the high-quality development of discipline construction through international accreditation, and to improve the quality of education and research, the School of Management of Shandong University held the International Accreditation Advisory Committee Meeting and a Seminar on the High-quality Development of Discipline Construction on May 14th. Zhao Shuming, Senior Professor of Humanities and Social Sciences, Honorary Dean of the Business School and Dean of the Xingzhi College at Nanjing University, Zhu Fangwei, Vice President of the Dalian University of Technology, Michael Lee, Former Vice President and Lifetime Distinguished Professor of Fu Jen Catholic University in Taiwan, Xie Xiaoyun, Deputy Secretary of the Party committee and Executive Vice Dean of the School of Management of Zhejiang University, Qian Xiaojun, Vice Dean of the Schwarzman College at Tsinghua University, Huo Baofeng, Co-director of Supply Chain Research Institute of the School of Management of Zhejiang University, and He Jiaxun, Executive Dean of Shanghai International School of Chief Technology Officer of East China Normal University, and Qu Mingjun, Director of the Organization Department of the Party Committee of Shandong University attended the meeting.
Director Qu said that Shandong University has always attached great importance to the development of the School of Management, and he hoped that the School would learn advanced concepts and promote the management discipline with Shandong University’s characteristics for the construction of the "double world-class project" and the advancement of the Chinese path to modernization. Wu Changqi, Dean of the School, said that the participation of first-class business schools in the AACSB international accreditation is an important means for China's business education to engage in international competition and continuously improve the level of discipline development and quality of personnel training. He expected the experts and scholars to develop ideas for the accreditation work and the discipline construction of the School, and help the School to develop into a world-class school. Vice Dean Tang Guiyao reported on the process of AACSB international accreditation, and elaborated on the discipline construction, faculty structure, academic research, and listed the key issues that restrict the high-quality development of the School.
At the meeting, Director Qu awarded the experts with the certificate of appointment of international accreditation consultants of the School. The participating experts made a theme report on the key points and difficulties in the process of AACSB international accreditation and discipline construction. Professor Zhao said that the process of AACSB international accreditation is key and that the School should pay attention to faculty construction and build an international young faculty team. Professor Zhu emphasized that according to the new standard of AACSB International Accreditation, the School should pay attention to students' practical and innovative ability. Professor Lee introduced the update of the iSER report and what the School should prepare in the future in terms of the significance and difficulties of AACSB accreditation. Professor Xie said that the mission and vision of the School should be combined with the School's characteristics, focusing on multidisciplinary intersection and balanced development. Professor Qian suggested that macro policies should be put into practice, the database should be refined, and a high-quality faculty team should be created. Professor Huo pointed out that the School should make full use of the University’s and local resources, and strive to cultivate high-level talents. Professor He believed that the School should give full play to its disciplinary and regional advantages and promote the integrated development of education, science and technology, and talents.
Fu Yanzhi, Secretary of the Party Committee of the School, said that the School will take the AACSB international accreditation as a handhold, strive to meet international standards in discipline development, teaching and research, and talent construction and other aspects for the high-quality development of the School.
