Professor Tang Guiyao Included in the List of “Highly Cited Chinese Researchers” in 2023

Recently, Elsevier released the list of “Highly Cited Chinese Researchers” in 2023. Professor Tang Guiyao from the School of Management of Shandong University was again selected as one of the 2023 Most Cited Chinese Researchers for exceptional research performance in the field of Business Administration. The list has a total of 5,801 members from 496 universities, enterprises and research institutions, covering 84 first-level disciplines in 10 subject fields of the Ministry of Education.



Taking Scopus, an authoritative global citation and index database, as the statistical source of research achievements of Chinese scholars, the list systematically displays the distribution of talents in China’s research field, accurately presents the composition of advantageous disciplines and academic influence of each institution and university, as well as top talents in key technology research and key fields. The list reflects the impact of a scholar’s research achievements in academic or research fields.


In the past five years, the School has been keeping accelerating the construction of top-notch disciplines and the modernization of disciplines and specialties. The School has published more than 900 research papers in academic journals at home and abroad including Management Science, Strategic Management Journal, Organization Science, Production and Operations Management, Journal of Applied Psychology, Management World, etc., and won more than 40 awards at the provincial and ministerial level or above. Various measures have been taken to stimulate the vitality of research and innovation of teachers and students and promote the high-quality development of science and technology innovation work in the School.



Tang Guiyao is a professor, a doctoral supervisor, the vice dean of the School of Management of Shandong University, and the executive director of Shandong Institute of Talent Development Strategy. She has been selected as one of the 2022 Highly Cited Chinese Scholars by Elsevier, the Young Experts of TaiShan Scholars, and the candidate of the Shandong Hundreds of Theoretical Talents Project. Her long-term attention includes the research and teaching of strategic human resource management and leadership, talent development strategy, etc. She is a member of the China Talent Research Association, a member of the Human Resources Development of China, the Deputy Secretary General of the Talent Development Branch of the China Association of Labor Economics, the Vice President of the Shandong Association of Higher Education Talent, and the Secretary General of Shandong Association of Youth Social Science Workers. She is also a member of the editorial board of journals including European Management Journal, Management and Organization Review, and Human Resource Development of China, and has published more than 80 papers in high-level academic journals including Management World, Nankai Business Review, Journal of Management Sciences in China, Personnel Psychology, Journal of Organizational Behavior, Human Resource Management, Journal of Business Ethics and Nature sub-journals, among which 6 research papers have been highly cited by ESI. She has published four books, including Strategic Human Resource Management, Human Resource Management, Human Resource Management of Group Companies and Research on the Strength of Human Resource Management Systems in Small and Medium-Sized Enterprises in China. The related achievements won the second prize of the Philosophy and Social Science Achievement Award of Shandong Province and the first prize for Outstanding Research Achievements in Human Resources and Social Security of Shandong Province. As a project leader, she has presided over 3 projects of the National Natural Science Foundation of China(NSFC), 1 project of the National Social Science Fund of China(NSSFC), 1 project of the MOE (Ministry of Education) Foundation on Humanities and Social Sciences, as well as several projects at the provincial and ministerial levels. As a sub-project leader, she has also participated in 1 Major Program of the NSSFC. Several advisory reports she written were approved by the main leaders of the CPC Central Committee of Shandong Province and adopted by relevant departments. She has published many discussion articles on websites and magazines such as Dazhong Daily (Theoretical edition), Chinese Talents, People’s Forum, etc. The relevant achievements have been reprinted and reported by many media and newspapers such as China Social Science Excellence, CCTV News, Dazhong Daily, People’s Forum, Cingta Talent Weekly, etc.
