In order to further explore the path to high-quality development and to search for effective methods for interdisciplinary integration, Ma Huaxiang, the Secretary of the Party Committee, and Zhang Shengping, the Vice Dean of the Guanghua School of Management of Peking University, visited the School of Management of Shandong University for exchanges on the afternoon of March 20th. Wu Changqi, the Dean of the School, Fu Yanzhi, the Secretary of the Party Committee of the School, Zhou Lin, the Deputy Secretary of the Party Committee of the School, and Zhang Jianghua, the Vice Dean of the School, attended the meeting.
Dean Wu extended a welcome to the delegation from Peking University’s Guanghua School of Management and briefly introduced the disciplinary overview of the School of Management of Shandong University. He pointed out that China's management discipline development requires a more solid foundation. The School boasts a fine historical foundation and has demonstrated booming vitality and remarkable achievements in recent years. By adhering to excellence as the benchmark, the School has further consolidated its disciplinary foundations, upheld the spirit of reform and development that keeps pace with the times, and achieved breakthroughs in various aspects such as governance modernization, talent cultivation, and internationalization levels to achieve “excellence in all respects”.
Secretary Ma indicates that the “breakthrough” of discipline development lies in innovation. The School should plan the groundwork ahead of time in the strategic development of disciplines in accordance with the demand at the national and local levels, to promote interdisciplinary integration. The School also needs to persist innovation to accomplish continuous and substantial innovative results. At the same time, it also requires overall coordination and cooperation in all aspects.
Secretary Fu mentioned that Shandong University has a profound history and has continuously strengthened itself through numerous transformations, possessing strong comprehensive capability and disciplinary advantages. The historical development of the School has always been consistent with the social progress and the school development. It is also a key task in the cultural construction of the School to sort out the history and current situation at this stage.
The meeting also delved deeply into the construction of the counselor team, the evaluation and appointment system for young teachers, and the path for international cooperation and development. Both sides expressed that they would seize the opportunity to further strengthen collaboration and exchanges, learn from each other, and jointly promote development, striving to take the development of the two schools to a new level.
