From March 14th to 15th, Professor Liu Yunchuan at Gies College of Business, University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign (UIUC), was invited to visit the School of Management of Shandong University for academic exchanges. Zhang Jianghua, Vice Dean of the School, attended. Young teachers Zhao Haichuan, Nie Tengfei, Ren Rong, and Wang Zizhuo, and master and doctoral students of the School took part in the activity.
On March 14th, Professor Liu Yunchuan gave an academic report entitled “Persuasive Conflicts of Interest: Influencing Social Media Influencer with Influencer Brand”. Based on his research article “Sleeping with Enemy: The Benefits of Conflicts in Marketing Campaign Sponsorship with Bayesian Persuasion Perspective”, Professor Liu gave detailed information on the innovative application of Bayesian Persuasion Theory in the latter half of the information era. Professor Liu's deep explanation of the theory has aroused teachers’ and students’ strong interests, and they had thorough discussions about the theory. He also put forward highly constructive suggestions in the application and expansion of methodology, bringing new inspirations and reflections to the participants, helping them explore diverse ways of thinking, broaden their research perspectives, and enhance their research abilities.
On March 15th, the School held further discussions with Professor Liu, focusing on the high-quality development of postgraduate education and the global competency enhancement of talents. Vice Dean Zhang introduced the basic conditions of the School's discipline development, faculty, and postgraduate cultivation. Thorough discussions were carried out in terms of the doctoral students’ joint training program, international academic exchanges and other aspects. Both sides have reached a consensus on the model of postgraduate cultivation, and would actively explore new ways for cooperation and exchanges, deepen cooperation levels, innovate cultivation models, and continuously improve the quality and international standards of postgraduate cultivation.
Liu Yunchuan, graduated from Columbia University in the United States, is currently an associate professor of Gies College of Business, University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign, and holds a tenured position. Professor Liu is a renowned Chinese scholar in the US, co-founder of the Overseas Chinese Scholar Marketing Association, and chief coordinator of the Overseas Chinese Associations of Accounting, Finance, Management, Information Management, and Marketing. He is also the Executive Chairman of the 7th China Marketing International Conference and China Creation Exhibition. He founded the Global Employability Doctoral Program and served as the Project Director of UIUC in China.
