Professor Wang Fan of Sun Yat-sen University Gave an Academic Report

On the morning of December 13th, Professor Wang Fan, Deputy Secretary of the Party Committee of Sun Yat-sen University, was invited to give an academic report entitled “Construction of New Liberal Arts in Economics and Management under Big Data and Artificial Intelligence” to the School. The report is one of the series of Lectures by Famous Experts of the School, and Tang Guiyao, Vice Dean of the School, presided over the report.



In the report, Professor Wang deeply analyzed the impact of big data and artificial intelligence on economic and management disciplines in the digital era. He took the financial system as an example to explain the research and application of big data and artificial intelligence technology in financial risk identification and financial risk management. Professor Wang pointed out two major directions for the development of the management discipline: one is management in the context of China’s culture, and the other one is management based on artificial intelligence and big data. Afterward, he introduced the practice of Sun Yat-sen University in the construction of New Liberal Arts, emphasized that in the future, the construction of trinity fusion of the industry-university-research on the New Liberal Arts of Artificial Intelligence Research Laboratory, Artificial Intelligence Infrastructure Platform, and Artificial Intelligence Industrial Park should be accelerated, providing a lot of inspirations for the development of future disciplinary paradigm and New Liberal Arts.


After the report, Professor Wang communicated with teachers and students of the School on management research in the era of big data and artificial intelligence, and Wang Yimin, Vice Dean of the School, made a concluding speech.



Wang Fan, Professor and Doctoral Supervisor, is the Deputy Secretary of the Party Committee of Sun Yat-sen University and recipient of the National Science Fund for Distinguished Young Scholars. He is currently a member of the Expert Advisory Committee of the Department of Management of the National Natural Science Foundation of China and a member of the Department of Management of the Science & Technology Commission of the Ministry of Education of the PRC. His research interests focus on financial technology, supply chain management and supply chain finance. He is the executive director of the Chinese Academy of Management and the executive director of the Society of Management Science and Engineering of China.
