To further promote the education improvement of the School of Management through international accreditation and achieve the high-quality development of the School, the School held a seminar on AACSB International Accreditation and School High-Quality Development on December 12th. Wang Fan, Deputy Secretary of the Party Committee of Sun Yat-sen University, Wang Yonggui, President and Deputy Secretary of the Party Committee of Zhejiang Gongshang University, Wang Zhaohua, Dean of the School of Management and Economics of Beijing Institute of Technology, Yan Haifeng, Vice President and member of the Standing Committee of the Party Committee of East China University of Science and Technology, Zhang Yuli, Dean of the Innovation and Entrepreneurship School of Nankai University, Zhang Dong, Deputy Director of the Office of Zhejiang Gongshang University, and Wu Zhen, Vice President and member of the Standing Committee of the Party Committee of Shandong University, were invited to participate in the seminar.
Wu Zhen said that Shandong University attaches great importance to AACSB International Accreditation, which will help the School to develop a new situation of internationalization strategy and participate in global education governance. It is hoped that the School will take the initiative to learn from the advanced concepts and successful experiences, and promote the development of the School’s “double first-class” and accelerate the construction of the Philosophy of the Social Sciences with Chinese characteristics through the AACSB International Accreditation.
Wu Changqi, Dean of the School of Management, introduced discipline development, faculty construction, and talent cultivation of the School. Tang Guiyao, Vice Dean, reported the progress of AACSB International Accreditation of the School and looked forward to the upcoming accreditation.
Wang Fan, Wang Yonggui, Wang Zhaohua, Yan Haifeng, and Zhang Yuli were invited to give keynote reports on the significant difficulties of AACSB International Accreditation.
Wang Fan emphasized that the School should enhance the School brand and improve the internationalization level of the School through the international accreditation, and also shared the accreditation experience of the School of Business, Sun Yat-sen University.
Wang Yonggui emphasized that the School should pay attention to the “what”, “why” and “how” for the AACSB International Accreditation and strengthen the School construction through accreditation in all aspects.
Wang Zhaohua introduced the background of AACSB International Accreditation and the accreditation initiatives of the School of Management and Economics of Beijing Institute of Technology and emphasized that the University and the School should make cooperation and provide the necessary support for the accreditation.
Yan Haifeng introduced the characteristics of AACSB International Accreditation and said that the School should have a correct understanding of international accreditation, focus on students, and take international accreditation as an important part of the School’s internationalization strategy.
Focusing on AACSB International Accreditation, Zhang Yuli proposed that the School should make positive changes and strengthen the construction of the teaching team and the curriculum, while the School should provide hardware support and economic guarantee.
In the Q&A session, the participants exchanged their experiences and problems in the international accreditation process. Liu Jian, Minister of the Personnel Department of Shandong University, proposed to focus on improving the quality of talent cultivation and determining the characteristics, foundation, and development direction of disciplines; Zhang Shuyong, Vice Dean of the Undergraduate School, said that the accreditation is a complex and long-term process, and it is also an important opportunity to promote the undergraduate education construction and talent cultivation; Chen Han, Vice Minister of the Department of Discipline Construction and Development Planning mentioned the cross degree of the AACSB International Accreditation and the domestic discipline assessment system, hoping that the School will promote the improvement of discipline construction by the international accreditation and that the relevant departments of the University will offer assistance for the accreditation.
Meng Qingchun, Secretary of the Party Committee of the School, said in his concluding remarks that AACSB International Accreditation is an important part of the School during the 14th Five-Year Plan Period, supporting the future development of the School. The School will take “cultivating students with moral integrity” as its fundamental mission, take students as its center, and take output as its guide, striving to pass the AACSB International Accreditation in the opening year of the 15th Five-Year Plan.

The School attaches great importance to AACSB International Accreditation as a major opportunity to deepen the innovative development of the School and an important initiative to implement the School’s internationalization strategy and participate in global education governance. Since the start of the accreditation, the School has passed the institution certification and eligibility application, and submitted the initial self-assessment report, and with the help of the accreditation, the School has made efforts in optimizing the curriculum setting, upgrading teacher levels, improving teaching methods and developing research activities. Through AACSB International Accreditation, the School will make efforts to break through the development bottlenecks, strive to build the management disciplines with Shandong University characteristics, and contribute to the construction of the “double first-class” of the University.
