School of Management Held Master of Engineering Management (MEM) Program Development Seminar

Recently, the School of Management held the Master of Engineering Management (MEM) Program Development Seminar. Song Jinbo, a member of the National Graduate Education Steering Committee for Professional Engineering Management Degree, Ding Ronggui, Deputy Leader of the Expert Group of Project Management Field of the National Graduate Education Steering Committee for Professional Engineering Management Degree and Director of the Project Management Academy of Shandong University, Sun Tao, Director of the Department of Project Management and Industrial Engineering of the School, Wang Lei, Director of the MEM education program, and Wang Jingbei, a young teacher, were present at the seminar.



At the seminar, Professor Song introduced the development history of the MEM education program at Dalian University of Technology and shared the systematic plan and practical experience of the MEM education program in overcoming difficulties and developing with high quality. Participants carried out in-depth exchanges on the improvement of student source quality, the standard of the MEM degree thesis, and the curriculum reform of the industry-teaching integration.


The seminar provided a communication platform for the construction of professional degree programs between Dalian University of Technology and Shandong University, promoted the experience integration and resource sharing between degree programs, and laid a foundation for the next high-quality development of MEM professional degree graduate education in the School. The School will deepen the teaching reform, optimize the curriculum setting, strengthen the faculty construction, and further improve the development of MEM professional degree education.


On the day of the seminar, Professor Song gave an academic lecture entitled “Governance Innovation of New Urbanization Projects”, shared his research experience with his completed monographs and research projects, and encouraged young scholars to do research that is “of interest to them and beneficial to the country”. He analyzed the policy support behaviors of residents in urbanization relocation projects, the contextual choice of governance tools for new urbanization projects, and the design of government regulations for new urbanization PPP projects. Professor Song introduced the current research progress and work results of the disciplinary team from the aspects of topic selection, theoretical model, sample data, and research methodology, and analyzed in depth how to select research topics based on the realistic background, how to determine the appropriate research methodology, and how to overcome the difficulties during the research process and other key issues.
