On November 22nd, Shandong University held the Selection of 2023 Advanced Volunteer Services. The “Xiaoshulin” Voluntary Teaching and Research Group under the guidance of the School of Management won the honor of “Top Ten Volunteer Service Organizations”, and Gao Yiran, an undergraduate student of 2021, won the honor of “Top Ten Volunteers” at the university level.
The “Xiaoshulin” Voluntary Teaching and Research Group is a five-star university-level student club for full-time university students to carry out short-term teaching, social research, and public welfare projects. The Group has carried out summer and winter activities in more than 40 places of 13 provinces, including Henan, Shaanxi, Hunan, Guizhou, Anhui, Yunnan, etc., and has sent a total of more than 2,100 volunteers from Shandong University. In 2023, the Group has organized three rounds of large-scale voluntary teaching activities, and has sent 654 teams to carry out activities in 30 cities of 9 provinces. As the only representative of Shandong University, it has been selected as a national demonstration team for the “Serving the Country People in Three Aspects” Rural Revitalization Program. The activities have been reported by People’s Daily, CCTV, China.com, Guangming Daily and Shandong TV with a significant social impact.
Gao Yiran, a 2021 undergraduate student of the School, was awarded the honor of 2023 Shandong University “Top Ten Volunteers”. Based on her major, she has brought special volunteer activities into the communities with 575 hours of volunteering. Focusing on rural development and red tourism, she successfully declared the “Ripple’s Mission in Action” project as the person in charge of the UNESCO (Asia-Pacific) Youth Heritage Volunteer Action Plan; she is also concerned about the actual needs of exceptional children and families in difficulty and cooperates with the Linyi Committee for the Wellbeing of the Youth, the National Advanced Collective of Poverty Eradication. She declared the “Seven-colour Holiday” volunteer service demonstration team, and focusing on the healthy growth of young people and the popularization of hygiene knowledge, set up the “Qingxu” volunteer team to promote the “Seedling Program”, which was awarded the Bronze Award in the Shandong Province “Service For Five Groups” Civilized Practice Volunteer Service Project Competition and the Golden Award of Shandong University Volunteer Service Project Competition. Gao Yiran is committed to volunteering, leads the “Green Mountain” service team in the community, and is appointed as the only undergraduate of the Committee Lecturer Group by the CPC Shandong Provincial Party Committee Propaganda Department.
