Recently, the 2023 Shandong University Young Teachers Teaching Competition hosted by the School of Management was successfully concluded at the Central Campus. The Competition is the prelim of the National Colleges and Universities Young Teachers Teaching Competition and the Shandong Colleges and Universities Young Teachers Teaching Competition, which is organized by the Center for Teaching Promotion and Teacher Development of the Undergraduate School for teachers of all disciplines. The university-level competition sets up three stages, including the selection and recommendation of schools, the preliminary round of the division, and the final round of the university, to fully mobilize the participation of grassroots teaching organizations and continuously improve the teaching ability of teachers.
From October 8th to 9th, the School hosted the preliminary round of the Competition on Jinan campuses, which was divided into the Liberal Arts Group and the Science & Engineering Group with 56 participants. On October 26th, the School hosted the final round, which was set up for the Liberal Arts Group, the Science & Medicine Group, and the Engineering group, with 52 participants. Both the preliminary and final rounds invited top teaching teachers in Shandong Province, the first prize winners of the Shandong Young Teachers Teaching Competition, deans of teaching and senior teaching counselors as the judges. The finals were broadcast live on the Chaoxing Platform, and more than a thousand people watching the competition online.
Shandong University Young Teachers Teaching Competition implemented the concept of “student-centered, output-oriented, and continuous improvement”. The participants followed the standard teaching requirements, made the course design, integrated the knowledge objectives, ability objectives, value objectives, and curriculum ideology and politics, used intelligent teaching methods, deepened the teaching effect, and provided students with a more advanced, innovative, and challenging learning experience. Highlights in teaching concepts, teaching methods, and teaching process, and thinking on teaching improvement fully demonstrated their solid teaching fundamentals and profound research and academic qualities, which were unanimously praised by review experts within and outside the university.
The School recommended five outstanding young teachers to participate in the preliminary competition and successfully advanced to the final. In the university competition, Hong Ruiyang, Assistant Professor of the Department of Marketing, and Chang Danting, Assistant Professor of the Department of Corporate Finance won the first prize, and Zhao Yujie, Assistant Professor of the Department of Marketing, Liu Guangjian, Assistant Professor of the Department of Leadership and Organization Management, and Zhang Qi, Assistant Professor of the Department of Corporate Finance won the second prize. The School will continue to improve the quality system of undergraduate education and teaching and promote the growth and development system of teachers to continuously improve their teaching level.
