On the morning of October 17th, the opening ceremony of the first Postgraduate “Academic Research Week” was held on the central campus, which was hosted by the School of Management of Shandong University as part of the activity series for postgraduate capacity enhancement. Feng Bo, Changjiang Distinguished Professor of the Ministry of Education and Dean of the Business School of Soochow University, Liu Guoliang, Executive Vice Dean of the Graduate School and Minister of the Graduate Department of the Party Committee of Shandong University, Xu Feng, Director of the Graduate School and the Graduate Training Office, Wu Changqi, Dean of the School of Management, and Fu Yina, Deputy Secretary of the Party Committee of Shandong University, were present at the opening ceremony.
Liu Guoliang recognized the innovation and era character of this event, and gave three messages to students around the management research. First, do the research of the times. Taking the times as the research topic, observe the situations of the times, grasp the opportunities of the times, and research the issues of the times. Second, do the research of the practice. Research what the motherland and people need, which is at the grass-roots level, based on people’s livelihoods, and rooted in the needs of the country’s development. Third, do the research of the world. Innovate and develop outstanding thought and culture, and take up the cultural mission of the new era with an inclusive mind.
Wu Changqi said in his speech that the School has always attached great importance to the quality of postgraduate personnel training, and is committed to “training postgraduates with creativity” with the fundamental principle of cultivating moral integrity and the direction of serving the country. The postgraduate “Academic Research Week”, gathering research power and focusing on the forefront of the times, creates an important communication platform for students to comprehensively improve their thought leadership and academic originality. We hope that students can forge a forward-looking vision, innovative thinking, and lifelong learning ability, “dare to be the first in the world”, continuously improve their academic quality, and be the forerunner of China’s management innovation.
With the title of “Exploration of Postgraduate Capability Enhancement in Business School of Soochow University”, Feng Bo introduced the overall framework of postgraduate cultivation and the characteristics of talent training in the Business School of Soochow University, and shared the specific initiatives and cultivation results of the reform of high-quality postgraduate cultivation system, such as dissertation quality enhancement project, aesthetic education, and innovative activities, providing valuable practical experience and development ideas for the promotion of postgraduate education of the School.
More than 200 master’s and doctoral students from the School attended the opening ceremony.
