Recently, the University-level Competition of 2023 China University Students Engineering Practice and Innovation Ability Competition (Enterprise Operation Simulation Competition) was successfully held. The competition, organized by the Department of Higher Education of the Ministry of Education, is divided into three levels: University-level competition, provincial competition and national competition. The University-level Competition was hosted by the Engineering Training Center of Shandong University and organized by the School of Management, with more than 200 students from 53 teams of the School of Management, the School of Business, and the School of Economics participating in the competition.
With the themes of “integration of industry and education”, “integration of business and industry” and “digital intelligence economy”, the competition is led by the construction of new engineering disciplines and new liberal arts disciplines. It focuses on the talent cultivation, highlights multidisciplinary collaboration and innovation, and adheres to the principle of promoting teaching and learning through competition and combining competition and teaching, so as to enhance students’ capability of practice, innovation and entrepreneurship and improve the quality of talent cultivation. The content of the competition is mainly based on the business process of the upstream and downstream enterprises in the supply chain, with modern manufacturing enterprises as the core and administrative units and financial units and other service institutions as the basis. With simulating a panoramic business social ecological environment, students can set up cross-disciplinary and cross-specialty business teams, make virtual manufacturing enterprises, and work in various departments of the enterprise to engage in the corresponding functions, so as to truly experience the complete operation and management process of the enterprise.
Attaching great importance to the competition and relying on the study group of the School’s Youth Leadership Academy, the School of Management actively mobilized students to apply for the competition, and invited tutors to carry out several trainings and exercises before the competition, which embodies the teaching concept of “promoting learning and teaching by competition”. The competition enabled students to systematically learn and master the relevant knowledge of enterprise creation and operation management, enhance the sense of innovation and teamwork, and improve their practical ability.
