On the afternoon of September 21st, Associate Professor Song Zhaoli of National University of Singapore (NUS) Business School was invited to give a lecture entitled “Research on Opening Academic Database and Work Behavior” for the students and faculty of the School of Management. The lecture is one of the Famous Lecture Series of the School of Management. Professor Wang Yimin, Vice Dean of the School of Management, attended the lecture, and Professor Liu Bing presided over the lecture.
With the theme of “Research on Opening Academic Big Database and Work Behavioral”, Associate Professor Song shared his views on three aspects, namely, research on opening big database and behavior, managerial behavior research using bio-banking big data, and the prospect of cooperation between biomedical science and management disciplines. In terms of managerial behavior research using bio-banking big data, Associate Professor Song introduced his own research in detail, including genome-wide association analysis on leadership positions and multi-gene scoring research on career interests. After the lecture, Associate Professor Song and the participating students and faculty discussed issues such as the cooperation between biomedical and management disciplines.
Song Zhaoli, Associate Professor from the Department of Organizational Management of NUS Business School, does research in the field of organizational behavior and human resource management. Topics researched include academic big data, genetics and managerial behavior, dynamic research, leadership behavior, job search and employment processes, entrepreneurship, and cross-cultural management. He published some papers in Proceeding of National Academy of Sciences, Journal of Applied Psychology, Academy of Management Journal, Journal of Business Venturing, Journal of Vocational Behavior, Human Relations and other international professional journals. His research, especially the groundbreaking research on the correlation between genes and managerial behavior, has been featured in the Economist, New York Times, and Washington Post. He won the Best Micro Paper Award of the International Academy of Chinese Management Research Annual Meeting in 2014, and the Best Conference Paper Award of the Organizational Behavior Section of the Academy of Management Annual Meeting in 2015. He used to serve as the Academic Director of the Asia-Pacific Chinese EMBA at NUS from 2013 to 2017, Associate Editor of Applied Psychology, International, and the Doctoral Program Leader in the Department of Organizational Management, and is currently serving as the Editor of Journal of Organizational Behavior.
