Professor Wei Tian from the School of Management of Fudan University Gave a Lecture to the Students and Faculty of the School of Management

On September 19th, Professor Wei Tian from the School of Management of Fudan University was invited to give a lecture on “Resource Patchwork Based on Social Capital: A Mechanism of Continuous Dual Value Creation for Social Entrepreneurial Enterprises after the Government Funding Period” to the students and faculty of the School of Management. Professor Wang Yimin, Vice Dean of the School of Management, attended the lecture, and the lecture was presided over by Professor Xu Yuehua with some students and faculty of the School attended.




Professor Wei started from the real problem: how can government-led establishment of enterprises cope with the transition period? After the funding period, facing sudden resource constraints, enterprises find it difficult to sustain the creation of both economic and social value, which is prominent in the field of social entrepreneurship. Based on the phenomenon, an in-depth introduction to the legacy of government funding and its impact on government-funded social entrepreneurship enterprises was presented from a resource patchwork perspective. Using a case study of a government-funded social entrepreneurship venture in a county in Southwest China, Professor Wei further described the dynamic process that government-funded social entrepreneurship ventures utilize a resource patchwork of to continuously create dual value. Finally, Professor Wei shared her experience in academic writing, including the word using precautions, how to organize cases, and how to “tell a good story”.



Wei Tian, the professor, doctoral supervisor and deputy director of the Business Administration Department at the School of Management of Fudan University, is currently serving as the director of Shanghai Institute for Reform, Innovation and Development Strategy. She has been awarded the honorary titles of Shanghai Social Science Newcomer (2022), Shanghai Shuguang Scholar (2021), Shanghai Pujiang Scholar (2013), Fudan University Zhongying Young Scholar (2019), and Fudan University Zhuo-Xue Program Scholar (2015). After receiving her PhD in Management from the University of Cambridge and her master’s and Bachelor’s degrees from Tsinghua University, she is serving as Editor-in-Chief of Asian Case Research Journal, Associate Editor of Management and Organization Review, and Field Editor-in-Chief of Foreign Economics and Management, and is the Chair of the International Management Session at the Asia Academy of Management Annual Meeting (2022). She has published several papers as first and corresponding author in Journal of Management Studies, British Journal of Management, International Business Review, Management and Organization Review and Management World and has won the best paper awards at the Academy of Management Annual Meeting, the Academy of International Business Annual Meeting, and the China Enterprise Management Case and Qualitative Research Forum.
