On September 14, to promote the construction of teacher morality, create a high-level teacher team, and give full play to the excellent teachers to help young teachers grow rapidly with teamwork mechanism, the School of Management held an Appointment Ceremony and Networking Symposium for Newly Appointed Full-time Teacher Mentors.
Wu Changqi pointed out in his speech that the new teachers are the important reserve force for the development of the university. The School pays great attention to the training of young teachers, and matches one-to-one mentors for the eight new full-time teachers including foreign teachers, and takes the “passing on” to the young teachers as an important guarantee to improve the teaching quality and to promote the construction of teacher morality. He emphasized that the new teachers should adapt to the role of teachers as soon as possible according to the requirements of higher education in the new era, continuously improve their teaching level and innovation ability, and become good teachers with both virtue and talent. Mentors should consciously fulfill the responsibility of training young teachers, give full play to the role of teaching masters and excellent teachers in demonstrating and leading, and unreservedly impart knowledge, teaching experience and methodology to young teachers, fully carrying forward the spirit and tradition of “passing on”, and making positive contributions to the construction of a world-class university which can take the responsibility of national rejuvenation. Meng Qingchun made a report on the theme of “Teacher Morality in the New Era”. He combined the ten guidelines for professional behavior of college teachers in the new era, informed the typical cases of violation of teacher morality, and conveyed the main initiatives and specific requirements of the school’s teacher morality construction, working hard to strengthen the construction of teacher morality in the new era and contributing to the education power for the great rejuvenation of the Chinese nation.
Newly appointed full-time teachers and mentors spoke in turn and exchanged views on the construction of teacher morality and the work of education and teaching. There are some important points mentors emphasized. First, cultivate noble teacher morality, establish bottom-line thinking, and set a good example as a teacher. Second, adhere to the student-oriented teaching thought, and respect, encourage and cultivate students’ creativity and strategic thinking. Third, do not limit themselves to textbooks, constantly innovate the classroom content, and synchronize with the cutting-edge knowledge of the discipline. Forth, combine flexible incentives with efficient communication to enhance the sense of design and human and do responsible management research. New teachers shared their teaching experience after joining the school, saying that they would actively devote themselves to teaching and research, implement the fundamental task of establishing moral education, take the initiative to consult their mentors and seniors, inherit and promote the spirit of the school, and jointly create a good culture of respecting teachers and valuing education.
