On the afternoon of September 7th, to carry forward the excellent teacher ethics, guide young teachers to continuously improve their educational concepts, teaching ability and quality, and give full play to the role of excellent teachers as a model leader in classroom teaching, the School of Management of Shandong University held the 2023 Young Teachers’ Teaching Competition. Zhou Lin, Deputy Secretary of the Party Committee, and Huang Xiaoting, Vice Dean, attended and delivered a speech.
Attaching great importance to the competition, the School invited Professor Qin Jing from the School of Mathematics, National Outstanding Teacher of the Ministry of Education of Shandong Province and Famous Teacher of Shandong Province, Professor Zou Yongxin, First Prize Winner of Teaching Competition for Young Teachers in Colleges and Universities in Shandong and Vice Dean of Teaching from the School of Basic Medical Sciences, Associate Professor Lin Hong, Deputy Secretary-General and Executive Director of Shandong Colleges and Universities’ Teaching Research Association of Fundamental Marxism and Associate Director of the Teaching and Research Department of Fundamental Marxism of Shandong University, Associate Professor Wei Xuesong from the School of Mechanical Engineering, the First Prize Winner of Teaching Competition for Young Teachers in Colleges and Universities in Shandong, the First Prize Winner of Teaching Innovation Competition, “Young Teaching Master” of Shandong University, and Zhu Zhengjun, the person in charge of the Center for Teaching Promotion and Teacher Development of the Undergraduate College, came to instruct the students and help them grow up with the competition to promote teaching and learning.
All teaching departments of the School actively organized the young teachers and recommended a total of 9 teachers to participate in the competition, including Zheng Qiuxia from the Department of Strategy and Innovation and Entrepreneurship, Liu Guangjian from the Department of Leadership and Organizational Management, Chang Danting and Zhang Qi from the Department of Corporate Finance, Hong Ruiyang, Liu Aiqing, and Zhao Yujie from the Department of Marketing, and Wang Jingbei and Yao Hongjiang from the Department of Project Management and Industrial Engineering. The lectures of the teachers in the competition were rich in content and clear in organization, which fully demonstrated the teaching ability and moral appearance of the young teachers. The expert judges made detailed comments and put forward higher requirements in terms of topic selection, teaching content, teaching organization, language and teaching style, and teaching characteristics. After the competition, the expert judges carried out in-depth exchanges with the participating teachers on hot issues such as “student-centered teaching design”, “professional and in-depth grasp of the teaching content”, “enhance the effect of the lectures on the board design”, “the integration of course ideology and politics”, and “the improvement of teaching skills in the era of digitalization”, and the discussion atmosphere on site was in full vigor.
This competition helps to deepen the cooperation and exchange between schools and universities, jointly improve the teaching concepts and ability of young teachers, help teachers devote themselves to teaching and innovation, give full play to the positive role of teaching competitions in “promoting teaching, learning and research by competition”, and advance the continuous improvement of the teaching quality of undergraduate education.
