On the afternoon of September 2nd, the School of Management of Shandong University held the general meeting for the fall semester of 2023 to deeply summarize the work of the spring semester and deploy the key work of the fall semester. Dean Wu Changqi deployed the key work of the fall semester of 2023, and Party Secretary Meng Qingchun presided over the meeting and made a concluding speech.
Wu Changqi reviewed the main work and representative performance of the School in the spring semester in terms of breakthroughs in the human resource construction, research programs and platforms, teaching and work awards, and upgrading of the office layout. He made arrangements and deployments for five key tasks in the new semester. First, focusing on enhancing the effectiveness of moral education, improving the quality of student education and training, and taking the responsibility of cultivating management talents with Chinese heritage, international vision, and modern business innovation thinking. Second, accelerating the construction of first-class talent team, give full play to the role of mentoring, stimulate the power of young teachers, absorb the use of advantageous resources, and work together to build a first-class management school. Third, the School will persistently promote innovation and development, take the national strategic demand as the guide, and continuously improve the research and innovation ability and service level. Fourth, the School will solidly promote international accreditation and internationalization, expand international exchange and cooperation channels, and push the development of various undertakings of the School to a new level with the construction of AACSB accreditation. Fifth, the School will focus on promoting cultural identity and organizational construction, building a first-class management culture under the leadership of the vision and mission of the School and putting the 6S standardized management into practice to build a “big safety” pattern.
In his speech, Meng Qingchun emphasized that in the new semester, the School will take moral education as the foundation, discipline promotion as the leader, reform and innovation as the driving force, safety and stability as the cornerstone, and striving for excellence as the spirit of the work style, so as to solidly promote all the work orderly and make contributions to the power of the School in the new journey of Shandong University that makes strong efforts on a full-scale plan. Combined with the characteristics of the management discipline, Meng Qingchun focused on four specific requirements. First, the School should comprehensively improve the quality of independent cultivation of talents, strengthen the quality of classroom and curriculum, promote the upgrading of professional construction by “management+” and “+management” and further highlight the advantages and influence of the discipline. Second, the School should make great efforts to carry out high-level research, focus on the topics of the times in quantity and quality, and strive to promote the development of Chinese management research. Third, the School should adhere to the implementation of the strategy of serving Shandong, base ourselves on the local economic and social development, and take the cooperation and joint construction as a hand to give full play to the advantages of the management discipline and enhance the social services efficiency of the School. Fourth, the School should actively expand the internationalization pattern, make concerted efforts to promote AACSB international accreditation, “One Belt, One Road” academy and other key tasks of the School’s “14th Five-Year Plan” to achieve results.
At the meeting, Fu Yina, Deputy Secretary of the Party Committee, Tang Guiyao, Vice Dean of the School, and Huang Xiaoting, Vice Dean of the School, put forward specific work requirements for all the faculty and staff of the School in their respective areas of work. Fu Yina analyzed the advantages, problems and challenges of the School’s employment, and put forward the paths and initiatives to strengthen the comprehensive quality of students’ competitiveness and the linkage of enterprises to form a synergy of employment.
Tang Guiyao pointed out that the revision of iSER report and the second round of data collection and analysis of AoL are the key tasks of AACSB international accreditation in this semester, and the whole School should concentrate on striving for the advantageous resources and accelerating the internationalization construction of the School.
Huang Xiaoting emphasized that welcoming the second round of supervision and inspection would be the focus of the recent undergraduate assessment work of the School. Combined with the audit and evaluation paper, she put forward relevant requirements for the teachers of the School to be rigorous and improve the quality of teaching.
