A Series of Lectures on the Graduate Students' Ability Improvement | Associate Professor Yin Dezhi of the University of South Florida Visited Our School and Participated in Academic Activities

On June 27 to 28, Associate Professor Yin Dezhi from Muma College of Business of the University of South Florida was invited to visit the School of Management to attend a two-day academic seminar. Professor Qi Guijie and Associate Professor Wang Kaiping presided over the activity. Professor Xie Jingci, Associate Professor Sun Hua, Associate Professor Sheng Dongfang and other teachers and postgraduates attended the meeting.


On the morning of June 27, Associate Professor Yin Dezhi gave an academic lecture entitled “Information Diagnostics: From Antecedents to Consequences and Beyond”. With his paper “Anxious or Angry? Effects of Discrete Emotions on the Perceived Helpfulness of Online Reviews” as a starting point, the lecture introduced the motivation and history of the research and how the new article was conceived on the basis of that research. He emphasized that to choose a good research question, we should not only “fill in the gap”, but also “solve the problem”, paying attention to the practical application and contribution of research results.


 


From the afternoon of June 27 to 28, Associate Professor Yin Dezhi had an in-depth discussion and exchange with students and faculty members on the topic of “Conducting Behavioral IS Research and Publishing at Top-Tier Journals”. Taking his own experience of publishing at top journals as a case, he explained in detail and comprehensively from six aspects: cultivating research motivation, identifying interesting, novel and important research questions, developing theoretical and hypothesis-argumentation skills, choosing research methodology to carry out the research design, as well as organizing, writing and revising papers.
