Recently, Professor Fang Xiaohui, an internationally renowned scholar from the Business School of Stockholm University, Sweden, was invited to visit the School of Management of Shandong University to give an academic lecture entitled “Analysis of the Innovation-Driven Model in Post-Modern Society” for teachers and students, and had a discussion and exchange with young teachers and postgraduate representatives. The lecture is one of the series of Expert Forums of the School of Management, and Professor Wu Changqi, Dean, presided over the lecture.
In his report, Professor Fang Xiaohui described the purpose, the scientific spirit, and the creative skills and experience of academic research from four aspects: global perspective, cross-border research, social contribution and innovation drive. He encouraged young scholars to do international teaching and research, to learn from their predecessors, and to be ambitious and diligent. Professor Fang Xiaohui emphasized that companies and R&D centers in China should have a global talent vision and have the courage to open the door to actively absorb brains, labor and financial resources of various global markets in the process of internationalization, and firmly implement the innovation-driven development strategy to attract global talents with better innovation policies, creating a new Chinese innovation.
After the lecture, Professor Fang Xiaohui had an in-depth exchange and discussion with young scholars in the school. Vice Dean Professor Wang Yimin, Professor Xu Yuehua and Professor Xie Jingci attended the lecture.
Professor Fang Xiaohui, the professor, doctoral supervisor at Stockholm Business School and leader of the cross-cultural research team in emerging markets, has long been committed to promoting exchanges and cooperation between China and Northern Europe in political economy, scientific and technological innovation, and education and culture. He graduated from the Naval Architecture and Ocean Engineering of Shanghai Jiaotong University with a bachelor’s degree and a master’s degree. After studying in Sweden, he obtained a doctorate in Industrial Marketing from Linköping University in Sweden. He has been engaged in international cross-cultural management and international business research for many years and has been well recognized by academic area at home and abroad. He is the senior editor of International Business Review with representative works including Chinese Business Negotiating Style, A Critique of Hofstede’s Fifth National Culture Dimension, From “Onion” to “Ocean”, and Yin Yang: A New Perspective on Culture.
