On May 12, the School of Management and the Student Employment and Entrepreneurship Guidance Center held a training meeting on career planning for undergraduates. Focusing on the theme of “Self-Exploration And Career Vision”, this activity provides professional and targeted career planning guidance for students from the perspective of horizontal career stages and vertical measures analysis. Wang Yingchun, deputy director of the Student Employment and Entrepreneurship Guidance Center, and Liu Beibei, the student instructor of the School of Management, served as the keynote speakers.
“Career Enlightenment”, complete the preliminary career goal design in practice. Wang Yingchun said that the early stage of career planning is to explore the “source” motivation. With specific examples, she analyzed the one-sided blindness of most students in career planning with the “radical professor training path” as the starting point, and put forward the importance of excavating personal interests, personality, ability and values by negative argument. Liu Beibei said that “Career Enlightenment” and “Career Goal Design” have a fundamental role, and they can make a preliminary orientation of career direction through auxiliary professional tests, paving the way for more scientific path design.
“Matching and Correspondence”, cultivating traits through data collection, and completing monitoring and adjustment. Facing the imbalance between personal characteristics and career development requirements, the guiding guests put forward the concept of “Matching and Correspondence” and gave specific suggestions from two aspects: data collection and monitoring and adjustment. Liu Beibei introduced professional data collection channels based on the school database resources, including job information, employment and internship recruitment, double elections, professional evaluation, and consultation and appointment. Wang Yingchun gave suggestions on process monitoring and self-adjustment, and put forward the concept of “career interview”, that is, knowing the industry and obtaining information through personal investigation and inquiry, and making short-term, medium-term and long-term adjustments in combination with the actual situation after comparing with one’s own planning.
“Career Vision”, perform one's own “career story” . Taking the previous contestants as an example, Wang Yingchun made clear the guiding role of career vision in career planning, and proposed that the vision should be determined by combining external information such as specialty, social demand, region, industry, enterprise and position. Liu Beibei put forward the principle of “Six Musts” for students’ career planning based on the mission of the new era, guiding and encouraging everyone to try a higher level of exploration and positioning.
