Recently, Dean Wu Changqi, Vice Dean Zhou Shuo and Professor Ding Ronggui from the Department of Project Management and Industrial Engineering, School of Management visited Serbia to discuss with local universities, educational and research institutions, and Chinese enterprises in Serbia and participate in academic forums related to the “the Belt and Road” to deepen international exchange and cooperation.
Dialogue with universities to plan the exchange and training programs. The delegation had a discussion and exchange with Ratko Ristić, Vice Rector for Foreign Affairs of the University of Belgrade, Sandra Jednak, Vice Dean for Foreign Affairs of the School of Organizational Sciences, Dušan Savić, Vice Dean for Undergraduate Academic Affairs, and Dušan Barać, Vice Dean for Digital Development. Wu Changqi expressed the hope that through the tripartite cooperation among Shandong University, University of Belgrade, and Chinese enterprises in Serbia, with the help of the International Project Management Institute (IPMA), the joint training of students and the short-term exchange study program for Chinese MBA students in Serbia would be carried out. Ratko Ristić supported the cooperation intention of the two universities in personnel training, teacher exchange, cooperative research, and academic conferences, and invited Shandong University to join the Circle U. European University Alliance initiated by nine European universities including the University of Belgrade. During the discussion with the representatives of the School of Organizational Science, the two sides discussed the joint training of students, long-term and short-term exchange programs, short-term teaching by teachers, mutual recognition of credits in professional fields, joint application for research projects, and cooperation with Chinese enterprises in Serbia, and initially reached the intention of cooperation.
Dialogue institutions to reach a consensus on educational cooperation. The delegation met with Dejan S. Miletić, Dean of the Serbian National Academy of Public Administration, and Bojan Lalić, Dean of the Serbian Institute of “the Belt and Road”. Dejan S. Miletić hoped to gradually promote the educational cooperation between the two sides in personnel training, policy research, exchange of visits between scholars, and digital teaching. Bojan Lalić expressed his support for the establishment of the “Silk Road School” by Shandong University and expected that Shandong University would join the cooperation network of the academy. The two sides agreed to cooperate on personnel training, cultural exchange, think tank construction, and research.
Dialogue with enterprises to build a platform for tripartite cooperation. The delegation successively conducted discussions with the management team of Shandong International High Speed Group in Europe, the representative office of China State Construction Engineering Corporation Ltd in Serbia, and China Construction Eighth Engineering Division Corp., Ltd in Serbia. The meeting was attended by representatives of enterprises including Chang Xuxian, the alumni of Shandong University with master’s degree in engineering management, secretary-general of Shandong University Alumni Association in Serbia, deputy general manager of Shandong International High Speed Group in Europe, and Qin Jiancheng, the person in charge of the Eurasian Trade Center project of China Construction Eighth Engineering Division Corp., Ltd. At the meeting, representatives of Shandong University, University of Belgrade, and representatives of enterprises exchanged views on the cooperation among the three parties to carry out the training of talents in enterprises, and exchanged opinions on providing consultation for the design, management and international award evaluation of the projects for enterprises, making suggestions for promoting substantive cooperation between enterprises and universities and promoting the development of education and economic and trade relations between China and Serbia.
Dialogue with forum to share the wisdom of the School of Management of Shandong University. The delegation attended the academic forum “The Power of Integration: The 'Belt and Road' Initiative for Sustainable Social and Economic Development” co-hosted by the Ministry of Science and Technology of Serbia, University of Belgrade, Shandong University, and the International Project Management Association, and Wu Changqi delivered a keynote speech entitled “Why BRI Works: Ten Years After”. Representatives from Shandong University, University of Belgrade, University of Zagreb, Institute of International Politics and Economics Serbia, and Aihua International Education Technology Group shared their views on the sustainable development cooperation between China and the countries along the Belt and Road Initiative in the fields of education, trade and culture in the future. The forum was attended by China Railway International Group, China Communications Construction Company Limited, China Road & Bridge Corporation, Huawei Technologies, Serbia and other Chinese enterprises in Serbia.
During the visit, the delegation visited the Eurasia Business Center project in Belgrade constructed by China Construction Eighth Engineering Division Corp., Ltd in Serbia, the Chinese Cultural Center in Serbia, Confucius Institute in Belgrade and the office of International Project Management Association in Serbia, and exchanged views with relevant persons in charge.
